Opening The Rift [Alien Plot]

[Captain Jack Harkness]

Jack was walking slowly back to the hub, the shape shifter behind him. He was going to try and open the rift and send this alien back to his home and his family. Jack just hoped that the rest of the team was at the hub and not out looking for him some where because he was no longer in danger, he had changed the shape shifters outlook on the humans and torchwood. The cog door rolled open and he walked in.

"This is the Torchwood hub." He said to the shape shifter. "Any one here?" He then called out louder.

The shapeshifter had followed Jack all the way from the bunker he had trapped the Captain in. Hopefully this would work. He wanted to get home so badly. The shape shifter entered the Hub behind Jack, looking around in amazment at all the wonders this place held. The eerie light, the huge water tower in the center, the workstations. It was more amazing than he had imagined it. This was ot, this was the place where he could get home from. But would home be the same and when he was torn from it? Would his family still remember him? Would he even get back there? All the worrys built up inside, but he did want to go back, at least try. If he died trying he knew that at least he had a chance, he could not let this chance go. The shape shifter wondered where everyone was, then it occured to him, they would all be out looking for Jack. little did they know that the threat they were after was no longer a threat just becuase their leader had made him see things differently. The shape shifter did not say a word, he just stood behind Jack, waiting to see what was going to happen next.

Iantos heart missed a beat when he heard jacks voice but he quickly hid the feeling away and walked up to the cog door where he saw jack standing next to the shapeshifter the one that had kissed jack.All of a sudden a jolt of anger bulit up in Ianto which is when he shouted at jack."What is that thing doing in here" he roared. Ianto had never been so angry before. Ianto stared at the shapeshifter with evil eyes. "What is he doing here, he can't be trusted"

Karnie heard someone shout in the recesses of the hub. She had been filing away old case reports - asfter offereing to take the tedious Job from Gwen. Karnie didn't enjoy filing, but reading some of the cases helped her learn about some of the creatures Torchwood encountered. She wasn't noseythough, and only read the files that were not marked 'confidential' or 'private'. She placed the last report into the filing cabinet and followed the angry voice.
It led her to Ianto, a member of the team she had only met once on the night she appeared in the hub. In the dorrway stood a tall, dark, handsome man wearing a long blue army Jacket. Karnie had never seen him before and a confused expression passed over her face.

She caught Iantos last few words: "he cant be trusted" and assumed he meant the man in the doorway. She saw Owens gun lying on a table and grabbed it, holding it like she had seen in the matrix films and hoping that she looked as though she knew how to use it. Karni had never held or fired a real gun, and wasn't sure whether she was doing it right.

Jack looked back at the shape shifter and smiled at his wonder but he also saw the fear. Jack felt the fear as well, what if it did not work and the shape shifter died or something else went wrong. He shook his head, Tosh would make things right, she knew how the rift worked better than any one else. Jack heard Ianto's harsh words and he looked up to see anger in his face.

"You saw us snogging..." Jack said it was not a question. "But we can trust him, we are sending him back home, going to open the rift and send him home. Is Tosh here, or any one else?" Just then Jack saw movement and saw some one pick up a gun and point it at him.

"While hello, you much be Karnie." He paused before holding his hand out. "I'm Captain Jack Harkness..." Another pause. "Your Boss by the looks of it." He smiled.

[Owen Harper//Storm Skylar]

Owen heard Jacks voice. He had been in the autopsy room going back over the findings on the salava. They were still waiting for Tosh, and who ever else had gone off to the park to come back, he couldn't even remember now who was with him and who wasn't/ He was really annoyed it seemed to him that no one wanted to find help for the captain! Though Owen didn't show it, he really cared about the people he worked with, even the Captain. He ran up the stairs and say Jack standing with the shapshifter! He knew who it was because he had seen it on the cctv. He was blond and quite pretty. He knew why it wasn't some one else by now, he had figured out the flay of it. The first thing Owen thought was this was not goos. He reached for his belt but found that the gun was not there, Karnie had it. He looked at her and shouted across the way. "Point it at the blond guy! He is the bad one here!" Then he looked back at jack and the alien ready to pounce if needed.

"Owen!" said Ianto"Can shapeshifters control over people, because Jack would never trust a shapeshifter, hes the one who told us never to trust a shapeshifter so this cant be jack it just cant!" Ianto was fighting with himself inside his brain he wanted to believe this thing was trustwothy and believe jack but his gut feelings were telling him not too. He so wanted to believe jack not only because he hoped that he wasnt being controlled but because deep down Ianto truly loved Jack."I want you to step away from Jack now!"said Ianto "Or else!"

[Captain Jack Harkness]

"NO!" Jack cried out, there pain was thick in his voice. How could they believe him? Why would they not? Jack knew, he knew he was not being controlled, knew that the shape shifter had changed. He wanted his team to believe him, to trust him.

"Guys he is not a danger... Can't you see? All he wants is to go home." He looked around at them, last at Ianto, who needed above all else to trust him and to believe him. He looked back at the shape shifter. "I promised him that I would try and get him back home, back to his family." He looked away from the shape shifter and back to his team, with missing members still.

When jack had looked at Ianto he had looked into Jacks eyes he could see that he was telling the truth."Jack im sorry!" he said quickly"Im sorry i didnt trust you i wanted to but i..... you know im sorry"He turned away to hide his face how could he so wrong and why hadnt he trusted jack."I trust you i really do!" Ianto turned to walk back up the steps to jacks office where he had been a few minutes eariler.

ooc: ok, i'm gonna be lazy as it took me so long to sign in, i really can't be bothered to sign out to get on to Torchwoodspare to post as the shapeshifter... so i'll be naughty and post both the spaeshifter and Gwen inthe same post xD

ShapeShifter-

Uh oh. He had forgot the trouble he had caused and that the rest of the team did not know that he had changed. He couldn't really blame them for hating him, he had kidnapped their leader. It wasn't the smartest thing he had done, but what else could he have done? He had changed, he just hoped Jack could make them see that. He didn't want to speak in case he got more than dirty looks shot at him. He just stood in the Hub, close to Jack, he was the shape shifter's only source of safety, suddenly, here, around everyone, he felt vunrable. Was this how his vitims had felt? Hell. It was horrible.


Gwen -


Gwen had heard voices and run up to the Hub. She saw Ianto, Owen, Karnie, a blonde guy.. the shape shifter and.. and .. Jack! She was so glad Jack was safe! But what on earth was he doing bringing the shape shifter back here when he had been kidnapped by it? It really didn't make sense.. but.. well, Jack had been snogging the shape shifter.. But after all the creature had done, why bring him back here if not to lock him in the cells. Gwen stepped up into the main area of the Hub, hearing that they were talking, she decided to stay silent until the conversation was over. She would just listen and see if she could make any sense of what was going on.

Oh, er hi. said Karnie, blushing and dropping the gun down on the table. It woulbn't be much use anyway. I caouldn't fire a gun if I wanted to.. I don't knwo how. She forced herslef to look at the table instead of into Jack's eyes. They were old eyes, but full of mischief and light. ((ooc: why the ladies swoon at jack, lol))
Karnie shrank back into the shadows of the room as the rest of the team appeared. She loved being able to go unnoticed whne she wanted to, it was a talent she valued. but sadly she normally ruined everything by falling over something lareg and heavy on the floor.
Behind jack stood the source of everyones talk. Karnie assumed it was some sort of alien, but judging by Jack's reaction, it was pretty safe. It stood al ittle way from the others, looking nervous. Hey. she said quietly, Are you alright?
Karnie wasn't sure whether the team normally talked to the aliens that came into the hub, but she felt sorry for the tall blonde man. He looked nervous and intimidated by the others.

He realised he wasn't being ignored, he listened at the pretty girl spoke to him, He had not seen her before, maybe she was new, he had stopped stalking Torchwood a month or so back. He smiled, someone was being nice to him. He listened to her words then paused before he replied.

Hey, i'm ok i guess, a bit out of place here really. How about you?

wow, how long had it been since he had had a friendly conversation with anyone other than Jack? Months, years maybe? He didn't know, but he did enjoy talking, it made him realise how wrong he had been to hate this world and every creature on it without getting to know them

I'm fine, a little out of place here still you see. I don't knwo enough to really have a part in the descision making. Erm... Karnie wasn't sure if it was rude to ask Erm, are you an alien? she asked, Sorry if that sounded really rude.... she added huirriedly.

Shapeshifter;


I listened to the girl's response to my own, listening to her words. It was great to be out of the arguing that was going on, it was like a much needed escape, talking to this girl. whens he had finished speaking i thought about my words before i replied.

Alien? Yeah you could say that, but from where i come from i gues we would see you lot, humans, as alien. I guess it's just whcih end you see if from really. My race are shape shifters, they live far from here, in a universe that has not been discovered by humans yet. There is so much out there, so much no one has ever seen, so much too many have seen. There is so much good out there, so much bad, evil, strange, amazing and so many wonders. But we all have this desrire to go home, to be home. Have you ever felt that?

He knew he was rambling, he had always rambled at home. Home.. it sounded so strange now, he just wanted to get back.

Owen looked at Ianto, he knew that the man would be really angry and sad. But with one simple thing from Jack he was right back to him old self, trusting every word that come out of the man's mouth. Then He watched as Karnie set the gun down, with out doing what he had asked her to do, to point it at the alein. He shock him head and ran over to him desk and grabbed it and pointed it at the shapshifter. "No, they can't control others.... In a hypnotic way." Owen said knowing that not everyone could look into the Captain's eyes. "But as always he is very brilliant and could be tricking him." He said as Karnie and the alien talked hoping that because of that the thing wouldn't notice what he was saying. "Also I found out that this type of Shapshifter can only change once in a while. Meaning that the Bloody thing is stuck in this form for maybe anyother 20 minutes."

"Owen!"said Ianto"Stop i trust jack i mean we thought his was wrong before but he wasnt so we can trust jack,anyway you said that shapeshifters cant control anyone!"Ianto looked at all the people now in the room karnie, jack, owen and the shapeshifter."Wheres tosh anyway?"

[Kally]

Karnie glanced up halfway through the 'shapeshifter's' explanation of its origin to see Owen pointing a gun at it's head, a serious expression on his face.
Owen, what the hell. Put that down! she said, The shapeshifter may be an alien but he wasn't trying to hurt anyone.

[Gareth>><<Captain John]

Gareth stepped out of the shadows, he had been watching from the Hot House, staying there in case anythng went wrong and he was needed as a second line. He placed a hand on Karnie's shoulder, it really wasn't good for the team to argue when an alien was present.

He looked over at Owen, What if we give it a test? Just so we can be sure that it isn't here with malicius intent.Though by the way it was speaking to Karnie that seems unlikely. But that of course he didn't add, not wanting to spark off another arguement.

[Owen Harper//Storm Skylar]

Owen growled at Ianto. "Were you not listening? I said he could be tricking us! Say the way that Mary did to Tosh like a year ago!" He looked at Ianto for a split second. There was no way to really know if the alien was tricking them or if Jack was telling the truth or what. Then Gareth came out of the shadows and said they should give him a test. "What kind of test? And how? What can you do that will prove that the alien is not bad? He kidnapped Jack, and then a few hours later is as good as he says he is?" This made no sense to him. Then the full extent of what Jack had said before sunk in to him. "What? Did you say F***ing open the rift?!" He looked aroudn the room. Last time they had tried it had not ended very well. The first time because of it, and a few other things, Owen got 'Fired'. Then the opened it again and that think nearly killed them all. This was not going in the right way. He hoped that now the team would see that this was not right.

((ooc: Sorry Jack, you are going to have to have a pretty good reason to convence Owen of what you are doing is right!))

Wait, wait, I didn't knw about that exclaimed Karnie. How could they possible open the rift?
You can;t open the rift can you? I thought it was just a random rifty timey wimey space thing? she said, a confused expression on her face.
