Bored much? Only a little. Lithe girl walked around aimlessly, her eyes wandering, lingering on things before moving on to something else. Dark brown hair was swept into a ponytail to the side, hanging over one shoulder. The brightly dyed, obviously fake blonde that bordered her face was mixed into the dark brown, fanning into it. Blue-green hazel eyes flickered from place to place, not exactly sure what to do with herself. Yeah, it was like the entire place was completely deserted. She scuffed the pavement with her flats, the dark grey plaid ones with a sparkling gemstone encrusted skull on each one in the corner. Her clothes were just as emo, though not horribly. A bright pink T-shirt with black writing and pictures, one of them silver headphones up near her left shoulder. Dark blue jeans belted by a white leather belt that was decorated with broken hearts with white wings and little black skulls and music notes. Hey, it was comfy and she found it cool. Finding a small rock on the pavement before her, Kriss began to aimlessly kick it before her, watching it tumble with each blow. Jeez, had the whole world died? Apparently so. She stuck her hands in her pockets, one wrapping around her cell phone, making sure it was still there. Kriss was still young, maybe 20. She was restless, needing something to do. She had hoped that someone would be around, but that was definitely not the case at the moment. Random songs ran through her head, sometimes changing mid lyric, for she had left her iPod at home. Now she wished she had it. But, the world hated her, so I guess not.

It seemed as if the city was empty. Good. She was looking at the sky, Myfanwy had somehow gotten loose, and out into the City. opps. So now there was a pterodactyl flying around Cardiff and she had to come and get her back in. In her pocket was a few bars of chocolate, dark chocolate. She had been told that it was Myfanwy's favorite food, although Gwen thought it couldn't have been that good for her. She was glad that Myfanwy was used to her, if not, there would be no hope in hell of getting her back in. Gwen pulled a piece of equipment from her jacket pocket, pressed a button on the screen which then made the device start to bleep. It told her that the escapee was near. It was a good thing there was no one around, or it would have made the whole ordeal a hell of a lot harder. After a few more minutes of wandering she heard the familiar screech of the pterodactyl. Looking around she spotted the large flying dinosaur. But that was not all she saw. Gwen's eyes caught sight of a girl, late teens, early twenties, she couldn't tell from this distance. Now this just got tricky. Gwen spotted Myfanwy nearby, perched on one of the railings that stood next to the path. Slowly, she walked up to the winged dinosaur, a creature so out of it's time. Just another victim of the Rift. There was no way around it, the girl would most likely see or have seen the creature by now, they would just have to deal with that later, once they found a way of stopping Myfanwy escaping when the invisible lift was being used. Gwen tried not to look at the girl, still grasping to that tiny bit of hope that she would not see the huge creature that stood little more than there hundred meters behind her. Gwen pulled out the dark chocolate as she came up the the creature, holding it out, enticing the creature down from her perch. She came down and waddled awkwardly towards Gwen as she moved backwards. Now she just had to get the creature on to the invisible lift. They kept moving, Gwen walking backwards, holding the chocolate, Myfanwy following. they were nearly at the invisible lift when Myfanwy let out a screech. Gwen froze, the girl had to have heard that, uh oh.

Bored, bored, bored. BORED. Was there nothing here to do? Apparently so. But, she kept hearing this weird noise, like the sound of leathery wings beating through the air. It had stopped now, but it was still a puzzle. Whatever. Kriss continued walking, scuffing the ground with her flats, debating whether or not to go home and read or something. Because there was definitely nothing to do here. I mean come on! The world can't be dead completely. It was so quiet, too quiet. She didn't like it. Seriously didn't like it. Silence was so freaking loud. Ever just sat and listened to silence? It can deafen you. And because of that silence, she heard another in the vicinity. Turning her head slightly, she saw a woman, maybe older than her. She couldn't tell from this distance. The woman was watching her apprehensively, and Kriss turned back around, self-conscious now. Great. Lovely. She continued walking, now watching her feet, keeping her eyes to the ground, trying not to make eye contact with the other who was nearby. There were more odd noises coming from behind her, but she ignored them, deciding now that she should go home. She had gotten some new books that she had been wanting to read. And there was obviously nothing exciting going on. Well, that was what she thought. Until something made this horrible screeching noise. Kriss froze mid stride. That was in her mind. All in her mind. There wasn't a screeching noise. Not at all. But she knew it was real. Turning slowly, she caught sight of the woman from before, now with a gigantic pterodactyl. Her mouth fell open, a look of shock coming over her features. What the hell? she said hoarsely, staring at the extinct flying dinosaur in utter disbelief.

Oh heck. They had been spotted. How crazy would this seem? A extinct creature in Cardiff? How was she going to explain this one?
err..emm.. She won't hurt you.. just let me get her back inside. Just wait there, i won't be long.
How stupid she sounded! But her first priority was to get Myfanwy inside. She look from the girl to the pterodactyl, still luring the creature toward the invisible lift. It seemed like hours before she stepped up to the platform. She knew that she could no longer be seen by the girl. She lowered down into the Hub with Myfanwy, once the creature was safely back in the Hub Gwen went up again. Once at the top she stepped off the paving stone and back into the view of the girl.
erm.. yeah. I can see how weird this is for you. Just don't scream or run.

Kriss just stood there shaking her head, her mouth still open wide, still not believing her eyes. And then something else weird happened. Both dinosaur and woman disappeared. Seriously. They were walking along, and then they were gone. Kriss waited, lowering herself to sit on the pavement, awaiting the woman's return. Well, her boring day definitely just took a completely different turn. No longer was she wondering why she was bored. Now she was thinking about what the hell she had just seen. Or not seen. She wasn't sure. But the woman reappeared and approached where she had seated herself on the ground. Kriss looked up at her with her odd blue-green eyes, still completely bewildered. However much in shock she still was, she couldn't help but smile at the woman's words. She even chuckled a bit, shaking her head. Ya think? Don't worry, I won't scream and run. She stood, wiping off the back of her jeans, getting the gravel and dirt off them. She shook her head once more, pieces of dark brown hair falling from her ponytail and into her eyes. I'm Kriss by the way. Kriss Paloma. Eyes turned in the direction they had disappeared off to, and she raised her hand to point in the same direction. Where...?

Gwen listened to the girl's, Kriss's words before she spoke again, heck this was a strange situation. She wondered if some of the team would come up here wondering where she headed off to. Gwen brought her attention back to Kriss.
Nice to meet you Kriss, i'm Gwen. And that, erm..
There was no point in hiding it, Kriss had just seen her disappear with a dinosaur on a paving slab. She couldn't lie, no matter how much trouble she could get into.
... that's where i work, under there, i know it sounds stupid , but it's true.
Gwen didn't want to leave Kriss wondering, thinking about what was down there, and she had seen something you don't see everyday. She decided that it would be best to take Kriss down there, that way they could decide what they, the rest of the team, were going to do about this. she decided to wait until after Kriss had spoken to invite her to see a whole new world that lay beneath the paving stones of Cardiff.

Tosh wondered around the hub, reading files and tidying up. She sat down at her desk and placed the file she was currently reading down. She sighed and took a sip of her coffee. The pterodactyl was squawking above her. Tosh looked over her screen at her and smiled. She teared off a bit of her bagel and through it up at her. She giggled as Myfannwy caught it. She sat back down and read again. She looked up at her screen as Gwen came into view. She sat back and watched her, intrigued by her. What was she doing? How had Myfannwy got out and why did Gwen go down then up?

Kriss blinked. Repeatedly. Turning to look at the spot, she said nothing for a moment before turning back to Gwen. Oh. I was going to ask where you got a pterodactyl, since I've been wanting a Diplodocus for the longest time. Here she flashed a grin at Gwen. This was her way of getting over someting a momentous as this. Sarcasm. Hey, it can make any day brighter, at least for you. Maybe not for the person you're being sarcastic towards, but it always made her happy. Kriss shook her head again, taking out her elastic and sweeping her dark hair back into another side ponytail, since the first had fallen out, as they always did eventually. She watched Gwen curiously. Man, four weeks in this little city thing and it was already a whole different world. Completely. Nothing like this had ever happened where she had grown up. It was normal there. Not here. Definitely not here. Now she waited, a bit apprehensive, hoping Gwen hadn't taken offense from her sarcastic remark.

Gwen smiled at Kriss's comment, this must have seemed so strange for her, but to Gwen this was her everyday life now.
Ah, we don't have one of them, but we have creatures that should not be on this planet under there.
Gwen couldn't leave Kriss like this after seeing what she had seen, she had to understand it all to make it easier.
Come and see, i'll explain all this to you.
Gwen gestured towards the invisible lift, waiting to hear what Kriss was going to say next.

She'd show her? Uh, okay. Kriss followed Gwen cautiously, taking long, slow strides after her, towards the spot where her and the dinosaur had disappeared. Why was she even following? She should be getting home, and eating chocolate and peanut butter. That would calm her nerves. But her curiosity got the better of her. She wanted to see this mystery world that was working within the outer one. And something told her she was going to get pretty involved, especially after now. Um, should you even be showing me this? I mean, this is pretty....intense, stuff going on right here. She was pretty apprehensive about this. But she was prone to anxiety attacks over the smallest thing, so she seriously needed to get over it. Not that this was the smartest way anyway, but hey, whatever.

Gwen waited for Kriss to come on to the paving stone, erm.. invisible lift. She listened to what Kriss had to say and thought for a moment. No, she shouldn't be showing her this, but she didn't want Kriss to have to go on living without knowing the truth, or doing what Gwen herself did, trying to find everything out about Torchwood which ended up both good and bad.
Well, you need to see it really, it would make things easier for you.
She worried about what the rest of the team would say, especially Owen and Jack, she thought that Sally, Karnie, Gareth, Tosh and Ianto might see it the same way. When they were both standing on the lift, it started to go down.
You Ok?
Gwen hoped Kriss would be ok with this, it must have seemed so out of this world to her. Well, it was. The lift lowered down into the hub, the all to familiar surroundings of what was like a second home filled her view.
Kriss, welcome to Torchwood.
